Terrorism And The Global Supply Chain: Where Are Your Weak Links?, Kathryn Dobie, L Milton Glisson, James Grant

Journal of Transportation Management

For many years, managers have chosen to ignore the risks associated with acts of terrorism that can potentially and catastrophically affect the global supply chain. As producers and suppliers become more tightly tied through long term relationships, common communications and information technology, events affecting one member of the supply chain can have a profound impact on the ability of the rest of the network to operate. The purpose of this discourse is to highlight the linkages which leave a supply chain vulnerable in the case of direct or indirect disruption caused by unexpected terrorist activity.

The paper examines data collection activities of the statistical services division in collaboration with its Lagos liaison office as well as the zonal research units. The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought

Charles Dickens proved himself a careful observer of working-class oppression in Victorian England, both of men and women, and of causes economic, social, and personal. But as PETER SCHECKNER amply demonstrates, Dickens offered them little means of righting the political and economic order that significantly contributed to their plight. A revolutionary Dickens was not. Professor of English at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Scheckner is the author of Class, Politics, and the Individual: A Study of the Major Works of D. H. Lawrence and An Anthology of Chartist Poetry: Poetry of the British Working Class, 1830s-1850s. He has also written …

Downsizing, Debürokratisierung Und Krisenmanagement: Neuere Entwicklungstendenzen In Malaysias Öffentlicher Verwaltung, Thomas Menkhoff

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Baseball Around The World With Special Attention To Japan, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

Baseball, the national pastime, has always had vast international ambitions. Floor Temperature Preference Of Sows At Farrowing, P. A. Phillips, D. Fraser, B. Pawluczuk

Housing and Confinement of Farm Animals Collection

A preference testing apparatus was used to provide sows with continuous access to three identical farrowing crates, each with a different floor temperature. The concrete floor under each crate contained copper pipe through which temperature-controlled water was circulated to achieve unoccupied floor temperatures of 22°C (± 3.5), 29°C (± 1) and 35°C (± 1). Eighteen sows were tested in the apparatus. Video recording was used to determine sow position from 7 days before farrowing (Days ‒7 to ‒1) to 14 days after (Days 1 to 14). On Days ‒7 to ‒1, sows showed no significant preference among the three temperatures …

A Modest Proposal, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

Has March Madness ever been madder or is it just me? Each year at this time I am amazed at the amount of media attention given to this multi-million dollar entertainment extravaganza produced by the NCAA. Each year at this time I am increasingly perplexed by how any of this might relate to the educational mission of an American university

Fantasy Sports Come In All Sizes And Shapes And Prices, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

With the opening of spring training camps and the arrival of the players in Florida we begin the season of hopes and dreams in baseball. Young players will dream of making the major league club, and older players will dream of World Series victories and large contracts to follow. For those lesser mortals among us there are other kinds of dreams created and manufactured for our pleasure.

New Life For Monday Night Football?, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

The firing of Boomer Esiason as analyst for ABC's Monday Night Football seems to have caught a number of commentators and fans off-guard. Personally I have wondered why it took so long. That Al Michaels will not be heading out the door with Boomer should be the real surprise, but then Michaels is a golfing partner of Don Ohlmeyer who returns as the producer of Monday Night Football after a 23 year absence.

Initiation Rituals, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

It is called the "elephant walk," an all male single-file procession in the nude in which all participants are connected in a chain by holding on to the penis of the person just behind. This is not a new sport, but it is a part of the sporting atmosphere in many male athletic settings. Most recently this charming ritual was in the news at the University of Vermont where the hockey season has come to an abrupt end.
