Christopher, executive director of the National Collaborative for Health Equity (NCHE), will speak on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Dr. Gail C. Christopher, a nationally recognized leader in health policy known for her work bringing holistic health and diversity concepts into public sector programs and policy, will give a free public lecture at East Tennessee State University next month.

Dr. Blair Reece spends most of her time in the classroom and clinical setting teaching medical students how to diagnose and treat patients.

However, her favorite thing to teach her students is how to talk to patients. 

“I love teaching students how to have difficult conversations,” said Reece, an assistant professor at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine. “I think that’s a really important part of our job, especially as internal medicine physicians. I have to have difficult conversations all the time, and you don’t just wake up knowing how to have those conversations.”

Dr. Stacey Fisher is one of six teachers making up the inaugural Distinguished Educator Council of the Tennessee Financial Literacy Commission (TNFLC). (September 19, 2023) Gene Yang, a celebrated and internationally respected cartoonist, is coming to East Tennessee State University for the fifth annual Equity and Inclusion Conference. 

Yang will speak at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, in the D.P. Culp Student Center ballroom. His talk is free and open to the public.

As the Library of Congress’ fifth National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Yang advocated for the importance of reading, especially reading diversely.
