Although considerable literature has grown around cyberbullying, there are still only limited studies on this within developing economies, especially African countries. In particular, studies on cyberbullying in Africa have failed to have a direct focus on the prevalence of this phenomenon among students in universities. Not only does cyberbullying have an emotional-social impact, it has ramifications on the learning process as well. This subject remains of utmost relevance within academia, and a number of institutions continue to grapple with its impact. KINGSPORT (March 11, 2020) – Beginning Tuesday, March 17, the Kingsport Alliance for Continued Learning (KACL) will offer a series of informal classes this spring through a partnership with East Tennessee State University at Kingsport.

Ever since the first skull of a Neanderthal was discovered over 150 years ago, anthropologists and artists have been working together to recreate the appearance and habits of our extinct relatives. Paleoanthropological reconstruction is one of the most demanding and potentially contentious fields within paleoart, requiring painstaking attention to anatomical detail and an awareness of the social and cultural implications of portraying extinct hominins.

JOHNSON CITY (March 4, 2020) – East Tennessee State University students representing three disciplines – business, computer science and mathematics – showcased their talent and teamwork during the first-ever National Analytics Case Competition held at Elon University last month. Their performance earned 2nd place out of 10 other participating schools.

Current aviation college programs aim to prepare the next generation of aviation professionals to meet the needs of the ever-increasing global demand for air travel. Previous literature has identified gaps in competencies that employers noted in young graduates. This study attempts to narrow that gap by focusing on the curriculum of the top 20 aviation programs in the U.S. to compare the curriculum to the skills employers cited to assess whether the courses offered in the current programs reflect the actual needs of the aviation workplace. JOHNSON CITY (March 3, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s College of Nursing was listed 10th among the most affordable online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs in the country, according to a new ranking by BestHealthDegrees.com.
ETSU’s DNP program is a doctoral degree focused on rural clinical practice in primary care settings. JOHNSON CITY (March 2, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s Dr. Alok Agrawal received an award for a new R01 grant proposal from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health to further develop his research on a protein that could be used to develop a treatment for pneumococcal infection.
The project, “Complement-mediated anti-pneumococcal functions of C-reactive protein,” is funded until January 31, 2025, at $370,000 per year, with the total funding amounting to $1,850,000.
