JOHNSON CITY (January 9, 2022) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy is offering a free college class for dual enrollment high school students across the region to learn more about the pharmacy profession and how to get into pharmacy school. The course will be free for all students who have a 3.0 high school GPA or above and are dual enrolled. ETSU undergraduate students may also pay to register for the course. JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 5, 2022) — Members of the Center of Excellence in Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Immunity (CIIDI) at East Tennessee State University have been making strides in understanding SARS-CoV-2, recently publishing their second article describing a study examining the immune reaction to SARS-CoV-2 (the virus responsible for COVID-19).

This paper maps the ethical complexities underlying the internationalization of sport management programs in Global North universities. Drawing upon postcolonial theory, critical internationalization studies, and studies of global ethics, I review the current articulations that concern the internationalization of sport management programs and highlight the limitations therein - that is, they are primarily articulated from a liberal global imaginary. In introducing the critical and decolonial ethics frameworks, I present some alternative possibilities to envision internationalization practices and policies in sport management programs. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – A group of East Tennessee State University business student volunteers, under the guidance of accountancy faculty member Dr. Michelle Freeman, will offer free tax preparation assistance again this year through the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Continuing to engage with community startups and businesses, the East Tennessee State University College of Business and Technology announced the completion of several marketing projects with Winter Innovations, an East Tennessee-based medical device startup company.


Winter Innovations developed an industry-first surgical suture with a specialized patent-protected needle design that dramatically simplifies and standardizes suturing and enables techniques not possible with conventional surgical needles. Its primary application is for orthopedic procedures to repair torn ligaments and tendons, like the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Achilles tendon and biceps tendon.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – ETSU Health will host several COVID-19 vaccine clinics offering primary doses and boosters throughout January.


All of the weekday clinics will be held on the second floor of East Tennessee State University’s D.P. Culp Student Center. Parking spaces in the metered lot behind the Culp Center on J. L. Seehorn Jr. Rd. have been reserved for vaccine patients.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – ETSU Health has extended service hours at its COVID-19 testing site in response to limited at-home test supply availability and the anticipated rise in cases due to the Omicron variant.


Hours of operation will now extend from 8:15 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:15 a.m.-noon, Friday. Preregistration is required. Schedule an appointment online at ETSUHealth.org.


The convenient drive-thru testing site, located behind ETSU Health’s clinic at 325 North State of Franklin Road, allows patients to receive a reliable molecular PCR test without leaving their vehicle.

JOHNSON CITY – Children in grades K-6 are invited to attend the Renaissance Child Spring Enrichment program at East Tennessee State University from March 14-18.


This five-day experience, hosted by the ETSU Office of Professional Development, includes an exciting field trip, STEM activities and arts and crafts.


Participants may be dropped off on the ETSU campus at Warf-Pickel Hall at 8 a.m. and picked up at 4:45 p.m. each day. They should bring a bag lunch, snack and drink each day, and wear “mess-friendly” clothes.

A constant source of encouragement for Amyre Cain’s college journey is her grandmother, who passed away in 2019 following a stage four breast cancer diagnosis.

As the number of available cybersecurity jobs continues to grow, colleges strive to offer to their cybersecurity students an environment which will make them sufficiently prepared to enter the workforce after graduation. This paper explores the academic and professional needs of STEM-students in various higher education institutions across Virginia and how cybersecurity programs can cater to these needs. It also seeks to propose an evidence-based approach for improving the existing cybersecurity programs so that they can become more inclusive and student-ready.
