Disenchantment with public ownership during the decade of the 1970's contributed to the emergence of a trend for publicly owned corporations to change to private ownership by deregistering under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. The primary purpose of the study was to investigate whether firms which changed to private ownership possessed attributes during the time leading to the change that differentiated them from selected firms which remained publicly held. The attributes included in the study contained financial data from published corporate financial statements, stock distribution information, and stock market data. Fisheries Report No 50 - Feasibility Trawling Activities In The Great Australian Bight By The Korean Trawlers Dong Ban 91 And Dong Won 509 During The Period 15.11.79 To 12.1.80, Michael H. Walker, Stuart J. Blight, Gerald M. Cliff

Fisheries Research Reports

Four Korean fishing trawlers operated in Western Australian waters, largely on the Northwest shelf, during 1979 under State/Commonwealth feasibility fishing arrangements. Two of these vessels, Dong Bang 91 and Dong Won 509, were given permission by Government, late in 1979, to conduct demersal trawling operations in the Great Australian Bight between longitudes 116°£ to 138°E and outside of 12 miles from shore.

Two observers from the Western Australian Department of Fisheries and Wildlife were involved with monitoring the activities of these vessels at sea in the Bight.

In 1981, Nigeria's economy experienced a 7.9% decline in industrial production, primarily due to a decline in mining production, particularly petroleum. Manufacturing output increased by 5.7%, while agricultural production showed some improvement. Inflation worsened, with the composite consumer price index rising by 20.8%. Monetary expansion slowed down, but a 5.6% increase was recorded at the end of the year. The aggregate banking system's credit to the economy increased by 5.8%, with the Federal Government budgeting for current services. The external sector experienced a large balance of payments deficit, resulting in a drawdown of the nation's reserves. The world economy slowed …

Budgeting is one of the fundamental aspects of human services administration in both public and voluntary (nonprofit) social agencies. Yet, for many social workers and other professionals in the human services, budget-making and the other related responsibilities of financial management in social agencies have an air of magic and mystery about them.
