In their efforts to provide an atmosphere or hospitality to their casino customers, many operators will provide complimentary alcoholic beverage service. This practice is fraught with liability, particularly in venues outside of Nevada. Conscientious operators must take every precaution to mitigate the possibility of lawsuit.

Gambling on credit, considered a vice by some, is not judicially collectible based upon the Statute of Anne. This common law statute prevents the collection of gambling losses, unless expected by state statute. This article reviews and updates the findings of an unenforceability of gambling debt study conducted in 1989 just prior to the rapid expansion of gambling in the United States.

Despite the popularity of promotionally-oriented Web sites within journalism/ mass communication programs in higher education, there has been little examination of sites and their contents. Almost no research has focused on visual, informational, and operational enhancements, or how Web sites of different higher education programs in the discipline differ from each other. This research addresses some of the unanswered questions about how journalism/ mass communication Web sites use enhancements to communicate with online users.

The responsibilities of a school business manager are diverse, complex, dynamic, variable, and vast in scope. Although the role of an individual school business manager is determined and defined by local district policies and customs, the personal philosophies of the business manager, superintendent, and board of education have a tremendous impact on the actual responsibilities. Situations presented in this paper pertain to Iowa public K-12 schools. When professors get together outside the university they talk about that thing which dominates them, their work. This conversation may take the form of discussing a product of that work-a lecture in class, a research paper, committee deliberations-but most often it seems to be about conditions of work. One hears talk about course load, the trials of tenure and promotion, salaries and compensation, and of course the quality of the students on which some of academic labor is supposed to fall.
