Trade secret management (TSM is an emerging field of research. Teaching trade secret management requires the inclusion of several challenging topics, such as how firms use secrets in open innovation and collaboration. The threshold concepts framework is an educational lens well suited for teaching subjects such as TSM that are transformative and troublesome. We identify four such areas in trade secret management and discuss how threshold concepts can be a useful framework for teaching. Plans were announced today to launch a Rocket League esports team, bringing the university’s number of esports programs to three.  Last year, ETSU began recruiting for its Overwatch and League of Legends teams, and esports Head Coach Jeff Shell said the search has already begun for the six students who will comprise the inaugural Rocket League team.

Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to examine and describe the career pathways of female art museum directors in the United States

Methodology: This phenomenological study described lived experiences of eight female art museum directors with over five years of directorship experience from museums with operating budgets over $10 million and in states that receive the highest private funding: CA, DC, IL, MA, NY, OH, PA, and TX. Data collection consisted of in-depth interviews using a scripted interview guide in research categories: a) motivation; b) career advancement; c) barriers; and d) support.

JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 14, 2021) – Azael Rodriguez-Roman has joined the ranks of more than 1,500 cadets commissioned at East Tennessee State University since its ROTC Program began more than 65 years ago.


Rodriguez-Roman was a member of the Eddie Reed Range Challenge Team and completed Nursing Summer Training at Fort Carson, Colorado, in summer of 2019. He took the oath of office earlier this month during a small ceremony led by Maj. Kent Monas, professor of military science at ETSU. Rodriguez-Roman commissioned as a second lieutenant into the Army Nursing Corps.

The Center for Cybersecurity Education and Research at Old Dominion University has expanded its use of high impact practices in the university’s undergraduate cybersecurity degree program. Strategies developed to promote student learning included learning communities, undergraduate research, a robust internship program, service learning, and electronic portfolios. This paper reviews the literature on these practices, highlights the way that they were implemented in our cybersecurity program, and discusses some of the challenges encountered with each practice. Digital Library System (DLS) refers to an online database that collects, creates, stores, distributes, and preserves digital objects, including text, images, video, and audio over a network. The present study aims to understand the critical success factors affecting user satisfaction and their continuous usage intention behaviour. This study employed updated DeLone and McLean IS Success Model (ISSM) and incorporated additional construct, namely perceived instrumental support to predict the critical success factors of Malaysian Armed Forces Digital Library System (MAFDLS). Systemic Leadership Development: Impact On Organizational Effectiveness, Stephanie Douglas, Daisha M. Merritt, Robin Roberts, Daryl Watkins

This study examines the impact of leadership development programs on organizational outcomes and organizational effectiveness. Using a grounded theory approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 executive leaders from aviation firms in Brazil with employees participating in a leadership development program. NVivo12 was used for coding and managing the data. Thematic analysis was performed to determine themes and categories. The leadership development program was found to influence organizational level outcomes identified as themes of internal impact, external impact, skill development, and capacity. JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 7, 2020) – Dr. Hadii Mamudu, professor in the Department of Health Services Management and Policy in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health, authored an article that examines the disproportionately burdened central Appalachian region’s health literacy about cardiovascular disease.


The article, which appeared in the October 2020 issue of the Southern Medical Journal, is titled “Cardiovascular Diseases Health Literacy among Patients, Health Professionals, and Community-Based Stakeholders in a Predominantly Medically Underserved Rural Environment.”

JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 7, 2021) – Samuel Garcia, a sophomore Roan Scholar at East Tennessee State University, was recently named a recipient of the U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.


Since 2001, Gilman Scholarships have assisted qualifying students with study or intern abroad experiences by providing them with skills critical to national security and economic prosperity. The program is administered by the Institute of International Education and congressionally funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
