The purpose of this qualitative instrumental study was to clarify the purpose of Agency ABC’s Recognition Council, while identifying opportunities for staff recognition and appreciation to be optimized within Agency ABC to assist in creating and sustaining employee engagement. This purpose is in direct correlation to the study’s problem, to fill in research gaps due to a lack of existing documentation, best practices and research regarding federal recognition programs. Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory was the conceptual framework that the researcher applied to this study. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State University is launching Bucky’s FAFSA Challenge, an initiative aimed at encouraging current and potential college students to file the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
“The FAFSA is your gateway to all federal financial aid, as well as the starting point for many other funding opportunities,” said Catherine Morgan, director of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at ETSU. “Put simply, filing the FAFSA accurately and timely is incredibly important, and we want to provide any assistance you might need.”

Previous research indicates that air quality near the cabs of nonroad diesel equipment may exceed recommended exposure limits for certain pollutants. The objective of this case study was to collect and analyze air pollutant data near the cabs of nonroad diesel equipment while performing real world activities. Using state-of-the-art instrumentation, the research team conducted 24 tests on nine different items of nonroad equipment. The team collected data related to pollutant concentrations of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter, and black carbon. Average concentrations of carbon monoxide and nitric oxide did not exceed published exposure limits on …

In addition, the shortage of skilled labor is accelerating the push for the adoption of prefabrication in building industry. This paper presents the results of a case study conducted to evaluate the potential benefit of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly referred to as drones, as a tool to improve the bridge inspection workflow. The study conducted two experiments to determine how well deficiencies could be detected using a UAS. Both experiments were conducted using the same test bridge. The first experiment was carried out by the bridge inspection engineers (BIEs), who had previously inspected the bridge using traditional methods. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic’s Current Population Survey, nearly 90 percent of the 10.7 million people employed in the construction industry are white males (2021). This statistic will remain unchanged unless more minorities and females are recruited into the industry. For craft workers, a primary recruitment mechanism is the registered apprenticeship program. This study analyzes the U.S. Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship Database (RAPIDs) from 2000 to 2019 to identify trends for new apprentices. Participatory Learning (PL) integrates several learning approaches, engaging students throughout the entire assignment process for both online and face-to-face courses. Beyond simply providing a solution, students also craft a problem (problem-based learning), grade each other (peer assessment and feedback), evaluate themselves (self-assessment), and can view others’ work (learning by example). This dissertation research explores the resulting learning effects. Contributions to both educational and Information Systems research include extending an early PL model and experiments that applied the PL approach to examinations, by validating and testing new constructs based on user activity and critical thinking. The Educational Talent Search Program was awarded $323,420 per year and will help middle and high school students prepare for and enter post-secondary education. In addition to current students, Talent Search also works with individuals to complete their education at the secondary or postsecondary level. The website, www.etsu.edu/response, provides links and contact information for those who wish to provide volunteer or monetary support to relief agencies working with the people of Humphreys, Dickson, Houston and Hickman counties in the aftermath of the flooding, which resulted in at least 22 deaths. JOHNSON CITY – (August 26, 2021) Ethan Galloway, a senior at East Tennessee State University, has been appointed to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission as a student member.
Galloway is from Surgoinsville and is currently a chemistry major with plans to attend medical school. At ETSU, he has been active with the Chemistry Club, which he serves as vice president, and he is an officer and member of Circle K International sponsored by Kiwanis. He is also employed by ETSU’s Center for Academic Achievement as an academic coach.
