Alumna helps save a life through blood stem cell donation
As a pharmacist, alumna Dr. Brooke Stayer’s (’10) passion is to help patients, but when she recently served as a blood stem cell donor, she felt she was able to help a patient in a completely new way. Stayer serves as the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services and PGY1 Residency Program Director at Holston Valley Medical Center.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – East Tennessee State University announces that the location of its Student Government Association Fall Concert on Monday, Oct. 25, has been changed to Freedom Hall Civic Center due to the potential for rainy weather.
This concert featuring melodic punk-pop band All Time Low and rapper Swae Lee will begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Because the concert is now indoors, masks will be required.

JOHNSON CITY – The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recognized ETSU Health’s Baby Steps clinic as a “Promising Practice” for enhancing primary care services for children and families affected by prenatal opioid exposure.
The Baby Steps Clinic is an interdisciplinary clinic at ETSU Health Pediatrics that cares for the complex needs of children from birth to 5 years who have been affected by prenatal substance exposure.

The online program management (OPM) industry is a multibillion-dollar business that works with the higher education industry. Once primarily a tuition revenue share model that marketed and enrolled new programs for institutions, the OPM business is evolving. Fee-for-service payments and services such as coaching and instructional design are now part of the OPM landscape. Although higher education institutions are spending billions of dollars, there has been very little academic research into this phenomenon. This study examines the satisfaction of higher education institutions with OPM providers. Contemporary professional reports and research suggest that in corporate communication and related programs, we are not creating environments for modern students to thrive nor are we meeting the industry’s expectations in a ‘hypermodern’ world. Using personal ethnography, this article to analyzes industry-articulated limitations in the knowledge and skill sets of new communication practitioners, reviews contemporary literature identifying the learning needs of today’s students, and proposes a set of best practices based on the literature and the author’s own journey as a higher education practitioner of 20 years. ABSTRACT The study aimed at identifying the types of e-databases available, perceptions towards the ease and extent of use, and usefulness of the adopted e-databases and identify the challenges associated with the use of adopted e-databases by the postgraduate students in the selected universities, in North- central, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey design where set of questionnaires were used to collect data from 1726 postgraduate students across five universities in North-central, Nigeria. During 2020-21 two business faculty from different institutions together with OER librarians, undergraduate students, and graduate assistants conspired to create a faculty-access-only test bank aligned to senior undergraduate-level open textbook, Strategic Management (2020) and AACSB Standards. Recently, longtime Gatton College of Pharmacy benefactors David and Betty Jo Pesterfield signed a memorandum of understanding to create the Pharmacy Plus Community Pharmacy Scholarship and Travel Endowment. The fund was created by Pharmacy Plus to provide support for deserving Gatton student pharmacists with either scholarship funds or travel assistance to Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) and/or National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) meetings.
