JOHNSON CITY – (April 11, 2022) Just two months ago, Yaroslav (Yaro) Hnatusko, an MBA student and graduate assistant at East Tennessee State University, was visiting his family and friends in Ukraine, the country of his birth. Everything was peaceful at the time. “Now,” he said, “it’s a war zone in my back yard.” His loved ones and fellow Ukrainians are fighting for their lives – and to help each other – during the invasion by Russia.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 11, 2022) – The East Tennessee State University Center for Cinema will host a screening of the documentary movie “Above All Else” by John Fiege. The screening will take place on Saturday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Martha Street Culp Auditorium. This screening will conclude a weekend of film and audio production workshops hosted at ETSU.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 8, 2022) – The East Tennessee State University Department of Art and Design and the Reece Museum present the Spring 2022 BFA Senior Exhibition on display through April 22. The exhibition features 10 Bachelor of Fine Arts students: Mads Brewer, Dana Brown, JJ Cox, Jenesis Fisher, Erin Fitzgerald, Emily Flores, Keely Melton, Sierra Stanley, Eric Terry and Haeden Willis. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 7, 2022) – As audience members make their first “flight” to Mars, Dr. Gary Henson often makes note of the audible gasps that fill the room.
“It makes the investment in the full-dome technology well worth it,” he said.
An associate professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Henson is the director of the East Tennessee State University Planetarium, a spacious theatre capable of stunning visual graphics thanks to a state-of the-art, full-dome digital projection system.

This article explores how a culture of strengths-based leadership can positively impact professional development for school site administrators. The strengths of school district administrators were measured through the administration of CliftonStrengths™ assessment. Themes that emerged were determined through the assessment and qualitative analysis of responses. A sample of convenience 50 principals and assistant principals from a public school district in Southern California participated in this research. The findings revealed that the common talent themes among school site administrators were relationship building, executing, influencer, and learner. This study supports future practices to enable human resources personnel to design targeted professional development …

(April 4, 2022) – The String Band Summit conference, held at East Tennessee State University from April 8-10, allows participants to experience and consider music from a broader perspective. Purpose: to determine the attitude of coaches and athletes to the selection of training tools for effective improvement of speed and strength training of highly qualified handball players.
Methods: In order to solve the tasks, set in order to monitor the state of speed and strength training of highly qualified handball players in the training process, we used the questionnaire method.

A pressure ulcer is an injury that affects the underlying tissue and skin and is primarily caused by prolonged pressure on the skin. During a clinical rotation at a small rural teaching hospital, pressure ulcers were prevalent in an estimated 80% of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) during a three-week period. Approximately $26.8 billion are spent every year in the United States treating pressure ulcers. The purpose of this quality improvement project is to provide staff education to ICU nurses in order to reduce and prevent the prevalence of pressure ulcers in patients.
