ETSU’s PMHNP graduate certificate concentration offers a certificate for nurses who have completed a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. (Feb. 10, 2023)—ETSU Gatton College of Pharmacy’s American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists Patient Care Operations committee hosted local Girl Scout troops and facilitated learning activities for the scouts to participate in related to first aid and each operations mission.
Operation Heart & Diabetes explained how to handle urgent first aid issues, like an epi-pen for allergic reaction). The scouts participated in an interactive science experiment to show how blood flows and how it can be stopped in the case of an emergency. JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 8, 2023) – East Tennessee State University has updated its ETSU Response website to provide information on support for those affected by the earthquake that impacted Turkey and Syria early Monday.
The website, etsu.edu/response, provides links and contact information for those who wish to provide volunteer or monetary support to relief agencies working with the people impacted by the devastating earthquake, which resulted in more than 11,000 fatalities.

JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 8, 2023) – The Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University has developed a new program for students to complete their medical degree in less time and with less cost. Tri-TRAILS, a three-year directed pathway, also provides participating students an opportunity to match into one of five residency programs.

This qualitative single case study explores connections between multicultural education, identity development, self-esteem, and leadership. The study focuses on the lived experiences of a lifelong learner, educator, and leader in higher education with the pseudonym, Rachel. The Emerging Scholars program began at the 2019 Texas-NAME conference with five graduate students, four of which were enrolled in a doctoral program. Students participated in preconference workshops on establishing a research agenda, understanding academia and higher education institutions, and creating a network as an education researcher. Since its inception, the program has continued introducing students to collaborations and publication opportunities through Texas-NAME. JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University was named a Top 10 Finalist in the 2023 American Marketing Association (AMA) Collegiate Case Competition, sponsored by The Wall Street Journal. ETSU’s AMA organization, led by instructor Michelle Sullivan, earned this recognition in its second year as an active chapter.

During the quarterly meeting of the East Tennessee State University Board of Trustees today, board members received reports of continued growth at the university. Overall enrollment for the spring 2023 semester is up from last year and ETSU’s spring graduate enrollment is the highest it has been in nearly a decade. Graduate enrollment numbers reached 2,396 this spring with master’s programs in computer science, information systems and public health seeing the largest growth. JOHNSON CITY – A group of East Tennessee State University business student volunteers, under the guidance of accountancy faculty member Dr. Michelle Freeman, will offer free tax preparation assistance again this year through the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.
ETSU is an approved VITA location, and with financial support from Eastman Credit Union, student volunteers will assist taxpayers whose total household income was $60,000 or less during tax year 2022.
