Faculty Articles

Management accounting offers rewarding research opportunities. If researchers are able to identify more efficient ways to analyze internal accounting data, these new methods can be adopted immediately by interested companies. Breakthroughs in management accounting research do not have to filter through a standard-setting body before they can have an impact on practice. Due to the absence of management accounting rules, the great demand for management accounting research, and the availability of management accounting data, it is not surprising that academic research is beginning to drive the field of management accounting.

The Feminine Ethos And Higher Education Administration, Mary Anne Nolan Hanner

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to determine if women administrators in higher education possess leadership characteristics consistent with those described in the feminist literature. The degree to which women administrators in higher education possessed these characteristics was compared to their years of experience (five or less years or more than five years) and the administrative structure of their unit (heterarchical or hierarchical). The population was women administrators in higher education who held the …

Marketing Acceptance And Its Relationship To Selected Institutional Characteristics In Higher Education Institutions, Melanie G. Narkawicz

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study examined the level of acceptance of marketing by colleges and universities in the United States. It was based upon the "Four Stage Model Reflecting the Acceptance of Marketing in Higher Education Institutions" developed by Simmons and Laczniak (1992). The primary purposes of this study were to validate the model and to identify the operational level of marketing acceptance at colleges and universities. Secondary purposes were to determine if the level of acceptance differed according to source of control/affiliation (public v. private), highest level of degree awarded (associate, baccalaureate, master's, doctors), regional location, urban location, and institutional size. Further Comments On The Use Of The Lsi In Research On Student Performance In Introductory Accounting, Marshall A. Geiger, Edmund J. Boyle

Accounting Faculty Publications

In this note we respond to the comments of Ruble and Stout (1993) concerning the use of the revised Learning Style Inventory (LSI) developed by Kolb (1985). While our more recent psychometric research on the LSI leads us to conclude that the standard version should no longer be used, unlike Ruble and Stout, we see promise for new or modified versions in future research. We also indicate where several of their comments on our work, as well as the work of others, are not well founded.
