This chapter focuses on the female roles and relationships in Natalia Toledo Paz’s bilingual collection of poems, Ca gunaa gubidxa, ca gunaa guiiba’ risaca/Mujeres de sol, mujeres de oro (2002). The author sets her poems in a world, where all the themes and plots are performed by women. Natalia is the daughter of Francisco Toledo, a prominent Mexican painter, sculptor, and graphic artist, and Olga de Paz, a Zapotec weaver and hammock maker. In 2004, she was awarded a prestigious Nezahualcóyotl Prize for Indigenous-Language Literature. Her bilingual works (Zapotec/Spanish) have been recognized in numerous anthologies all over the world and …

El ensayo presenta una panorámica de las novelas y ensayos de Guillem Frontera (Ariany, Mallorca, 1945) y examina el papel de la música en su producción literaria. En sus primeras obras de los años sesenta y setenta hay una gran cantidad de referencias al jazz, el rock y el pop. Esos géneros son vistos como un signo de modernidad y cosmopolitismo normalmente traído por el turismo de masas a Mallorca. Este proyecto examina la presencia del cuerpo humano en la poesía de tres mujeres ecuatorianas: Aleyda Quevedo Rojas, Aurora Estrada y Ayala, y Sophia Yánez. Enfoco en como las imágenes del cuerpo en su poesía están relatados con algunos temas del poder y el genero. Específicamente, exploro los temas del patriarcado, el colonialismo, y la creación. En relación con el patriarcado, encontré que la poesía de Aleyda Quevedo Rojas aborda mucho con la expectativa social para la perfección del cuerpo femenino. "Poetry in Translation," is a public lecture by Dr. John Burns. The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 at 4pm in Hill Auditorium. Dr. Burns will also meet with classes in the English Department and the Department of Modern Languages and will narrate "The Cloths of Heaven," a Faculty Series Concert of song settings of W.B. Yeats' poetry on Friday, September 18th in Minsky Hall.

An exploration on the historical and material conditions that allowed the emergence of metaphors and poetry alongside language. This article analyzes the historical relation between poetry and technology across history. It discusses the so-called ontological crisis of poetry and opens the conversation on its future.
