The article discusses functional equivalent relationships that play an important role in the phenomenon of linguistic variation. Within the framework of the topic, the opinions of leading linguists are presented, analyzed and conclusions are given. The article explores semantic groups defined on the basis of lexical-semantic variants of the simple verb xāstan and their functional equivalents.

Five semantic groups of the simple verb xāstan are proposed and, due to the limitations of the article, only options with meanings are requested; demand which belong to the second semantic group. Functional equivalents are determined on the basis of authoritative sources and analyzed using examples from various literature.
