The 1871 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Bethel Church in Iredell County, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Elder G. M. Webb. Churches at Capernaum, Shelby, and New Prospect were received in the Kings Mountain Baptist Association upon their dismission from the Broad River Baptist Association. The 8th article in the Abstract of Principles regarding baptism were changed. The 12th article from the Abstract of Principles was stricken out.
