The 1867 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Thessalonica Church in neighboring Catawba County, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Elder J. H. Yarboro and the circular letter authored by Elder Robert Poston. A resolution was voted upon to accept the use of the Baptist Psalmody as the official hymnal of associational churches. A Committee of Redistricting was established for the association and proposed that associational churches be divided into 4 districts bound by geographical land markers.
