The 1875 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at New Hope Church (present day: New Hope Baptist Church) in Earl, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Elder Thomas Dixon. "A request of the Shiloh Association, (Colored Baptists, who were in session near us,) was handed in asking for Ministerial aid on the Sabbath." The Committee on Education reports that the state association encourages all financial support of education be channeled towards funding Wake Forest College.
