The 1862 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at New Bethel Church (present day: New Bethel Baptist Church) in Lawndale, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Elder Larkin M. Berry and the circular letter authored by Elder John R. Logan. The assembly introduced and adopted a resolution by Elder Larkin M. Berry pertaining to speculators in the county driving up the price of household goods. The assembly proposed to petition the General Assembly of North Carolina to have the operations of the speculators ceased.
