The purpose of this book is three-fold. First, to analyze and evaluate the status of the "holiness" message today. In this analysis the problems raised by the preaching of holiness will be faced squarely. Then, a fresh examination of the Scriptures will be attempted upon which the holiness message is based. Finally, a constructive theological statement will be proposed in which, it is hoped, some of the most serious questions will find a satisfactory answer.

This dissertation studied the life, the theology and the educational pedagogy of Dr. Mildred Bangs Wynkoop. Wynkoop changed the theological framework within the international denomination of the Church of the Nazarene. Wynkoop’s proactive interpretation of Wesleyan theology kept the Church of the Nazarene in the forefront of theological development within the Wesleyan Holiness movement during the twentieth century.

This study seeks to understand the historical and contemporary Christian views of Scripture, particularly in regard to the relation of theories of Inspiration to the various methods of interpretation which have been and are employed by the Church.
