Résumé :

Malgré la présence évidente et continue des références intertextuelles dans les romans de Mouloud Feraoun, celles-ci n’ont été que rarement étudiées. C’est notamment dans son troisième roman, Les chemins qui montent, que les renvois à la littérature orale de la Kabylie comme à l’œuvre romanesque et philosophique d’Albert Camus se prêtent particulièrement à une analyse approfondie. Ils révèlent la résignation profonde du protagoniste qui se refuse à la révolte métaphysique au sens camusien, révolte rendue impossible par la condition coloniale.

Cette contribution nous offre la présentation d’une longue complainte (20 strophes) chantée par Ḥaǧila Azem, sœur de Slimane Azem. Ḥaǧila est restée dans son village natal qu’elle n’a jamais quitté, coupée de sa nombreuse fratrie aspirée par un exil définitif. Les circonstances authentiques, rapportées ici, où fut recueillie cette complainte ainsi que la personnalité de l’interprète donnent à l’évènement une densité qui renvoie à la figure du clair-chantant de Jean Amrouche.

Legacy archaeological collections are often underutilized despite their valuable research utility. Archeologists might pass over these collections for research due to the age of recovery, along with the manner in which they were sampled and excavated. This thesis argues that significant archaeological research questions can be answered using these collections. To demonstrate their research potential, the author analyzes past subsistence behaviors and seasonality of occupations using the faunal remains from the Woodcliff site (25SD31). Se reflexiona sobre el papel social de la mujer durante el postclásico en la península de Yucatán; se utiliza como testimonio el Códice Madrid a partir de la información que ofrecen las figuras femeninas que aparecen representadas en 27 almanaques y en el cosmograma de las páginas 75-76. El porcentaje de figuras femeninas (10,15%), así como las funciones que desempeñan en las distintas escenas, indican que la mujer tiene un papel secundario, incluso pueden ser sustituidas por varones. Se describen brevemente los antecedentes de la colección, el sitio arqueológico de proveniencia y su contexto geográfico, histórico y religioso. Modern-day slavery is an international crime against humanity which affects millions of lives each year. Human trafficking, a form of Modern Slavery, has negative long-lasting implications on trafficked victims and society, particularly vulnerable members such as indigenous women and children. Throughout this reflective essay I explore Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Indigenous philosophy and contemplative education as ethical pathways to healing and reconciliation in higher education. I put forth the idea of becoming the imperfect friend in a world ethos of death by a thousand cuts as a response to the violence of colonialism perpetuated in academia. This paper outlines a proposal, based on Blackfoot worldview, for a collective method to stand alongside Western qualitative and quantitative methods and highlights the value of collective methods in collaborative social-ecological research. Neither qualitative nor quantitative methods are adequate to disclose a world where all things are alive, where “objects” are subjects—agentive beings in their own right. Most Indigenous cultures understand and experience the world as a network of living beings, a collective, with whom they are interrelated/connected and therefore, any efforts to collaborate with Indigenous peoples must acknowledge comprehensive relational animacy. En este breve ensayo se presenta una pieza inédita con este tipo de decoración, la botella Balzarotti. American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities test positive for COVID-19 and experience higher mortality than other racial and ethnic groups. These high rates of vulnerability could be connected to the systemic inequalities that have been experienced for centuries. This study aimed to compare socioeconomic stressors, concerns, and mental health experiences during the early COVID-19 pandemic between AI/AN and non-AIAN populations in South Dakota. The study sample (n=1,586) was grouped by AI/AN and non-AI/AN status based on self-identification of being AI/AN alone or in combination with another race/ethnicity.
