Con el objetivo principal de comprender las relaciones existentes entre ellos así como las similitudes y diferencias entre la cosmovisión mesoamericana y la andina. La representación del ave en la iconografía Tiwanaku es parte de un conjunto de símbolos sagrados, emblemas de poder, que condensan unos conocimientos acerca de la cosmovisión y estarían vinculados a prácticas chamánicas. La imagen del ave, representada por elementos simplificados como las alas, el vuelo o los ojos, simbolizaría la capacidad de atravesar las fronteras entre los mundos, de ver lo sagrado, y expresaría la intermediación entre hombres y divinidades. This thesis examines the flaked stone artifact assemblage recovered from LA 20,000, a 17th-century (ca. 1630-1680 AD) rural Spanish colonial estancia located near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Settlements like LA 20,000 were important locations of cultural interaction between Spanish colonists and local Indigenous peoples who often worked and lived together in multi-cultural households. Discussions of unfree labor systems in the United States have long been focused on history of institutionalized slavery on the East coast and plantation slavery in the American South. However, recent scholars have challenged the definitions of unfree labor systems based solely on the framework of American slavery in these areas. Forced Indian labor in the territory of Alta California between the late 18th and mid-nineteenth centuries has offered historians a major counter-example of institutionalized unfree labor within the United States. Las figurillas del periodo Formativo (2300 a.C.-100 d.C.), de la Cuenca de México, modeladas en barro, antropomorfas y sólidas, se distinguen por ser representaciones realistas, y al parecer, algunas de ellas son versiones a escala que muestran personajes, es decir, son pequeñas esculturas inspiradas en algunos miembros de la comunidad que se destacan por sus atributos o parafernalia. Estos atributos son indicadores de un claro reconocimiento de diferenciación social, asociados con personajes que desempeñaban roles específicos dentro de la sociedad y que, al parecer, son recreaciones de jugadores de pelota.

En este trabajo se analizan piezas producidas entre los siglos VII-XI, en el valle de Hualfín (Catamarca, Argentina) con fines cúlticos y ceremoniales, que presentan una iconografía de notable complejidad. Al respecto se propone indagar: el posible significado de las imágenes metafóricas y metonímicas que articulan humanos, felinos, saurios y reptiles, en relación al poder sagrado (lo waka) y, el rol que juega cada “tradición plástica” (escultores, grabadores, pintores) en la materialización, a través de los objetos e imágenes, del orden ontológico y cosmológico vigente en las comunidades del noroeste argentino en época prehispánica.

This United States (US) Supreme Court case, decided July 9, 2020, clarified the boundaries of Indigenous land within the state of Oklahoma (OK) and, by extension, the limits of Oklahoma’s jurisdictional reach. Following the perpetration of his crimes in 1997, Oklahoma state court convicted Jimcy McGirt of three sexual offenses; however, McGirt contended that the state lacked the jurisdiction to try him for these crimes because he is an enrolled member of the Seminole Nation and because his crimes took place on the Creek Reservation (Muscogee Nation). Government apologies issued for American settler-colonialism, instances of mis-racialization, and instances of misrepresentation of Native American peoples – such as the joint resolutions passed by President Clinton and the 103^rd Congress and President Obama and the 111^th Congress – reflect the strategies used to justify the United States’ removal and assimilation policies. En el hallazgo de Llullaillaco los motivos de tocapu y cumbi se reiteran en importantes textiles que visten a los niños ofrendados y en otros en forma de miniatura vistiendo a las estatuillas que conforman el ajuar. Tanto las miniaturas antropomorfas de metal (oro y plata) como las de mullu (spondylus) están vestidas con uncu (túnica), yacolla (manto) y llautu (o vincha) y llevan una bolsa o chuspa con los mismos diseños que las prendas que visten los niños. El análisis textil es un aporte fundamental para la recontextualización de individuos momificados y dentro de este contexto un caso interesante es el de la momia exhibida en el Museo del Instituto de Anatomía de la Universidad de Philipps, Marburg, Alemania.
