Go Eena Kumbla: A Comparison Of Erna Brodber's Jane And Louisa Will Soon Come Home And Toni Cade Bambara's The Salt Eaters, Daryl Cumber Dance Jan 1990

Go Eena Kumbla: A Comparison Of Erna Brodber's Jane And Louisa Will Soon Come Home And Toni Cade Bambara's The Salt Eaters, Daryl Cumber Dance

English Faculty Publications

When I returned to Jamaica in July 1982, I took as gifts for friends some recent novels by black American writers, including Toni Cade Bambara's The Salt Eaters. Lavilla, Florida, 1866-1887: Reconstruction Dreams And The Formation Of A Black Community, Patricia Drozd Kenney

UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations

At war's end, freedmen seeking shelter and work took advantage of the inexpensive housing and proximity to employment LaVilla offered and, by 1870, became the majority population. The years 1866 through 1887 have been chosen for this study because they demarcate LaVilla's inception on the one hand and, on the other, its disappearance as an independent entity. Local, state, and federal records have …

The 93rd Division: A Victim Of Domestic Politics, 1938-1945, Robert F. Jefferson

History Theses & Dissertations

The 93rd Division was an all-Negro unit that served in World War II. The formation and deployment of the unit was not planned but was the result of the Roosevelt Administration's susceptibility to domestic pressure during World War II. The War Department's lack of a comprehensive policy concerning Negro troops led to the Company K debacle of 1944 which reduced the unit to a combat support role for the remainder of the Pacific war effort. Furthermore, the outfit's failures forced the Army to reassess its racial policies in the postwar era.

This study examines the War Department's manpower policies and …

God Doesn't Look At Skin Color, Oral Roberts

Chapel AV & Transcripts

This is a transcript of the September 26, 1989 chapel service held on the campus of Oral Roberts University in which Oral Roberts delivered a message entitled, "God Doesn't Look at Skin Color."

Roberts shares that when the university opened, a member of the federal government called him to ask about his racial policy. He replied, "ORU is established in three ways, first, to be international. Second, to be interdenominational, and third to be interracial."
