Reasons For Epicurus' Selection Of Atomism As The Basis Of His Ethical System, Eugene P. Trebby
Reasons For Epicurus' Selection Of Atomism As The Basis Of His Ethical System, Eugene P. Trebby
Bachelors’ Theses
The fame and recognition of Epicurus has been derived almost entirely from his ethical theory. However, Epicurus did not confine his study to this sole branch of philosophy. He became interested in the field of natural science, and as a very ardent proponent of atomism. It has been the purpose of this study to attempt to discover the reasons of Epicurus for placing his theory of ethics upon the foundation of atomism. This work, however, could not have attained completion without the aid received from the works of Cyril Bailey. The writer is very deeply Indebted to Mr. Bailey for …

The Ethical Principles Underlying Abortion, Lewis Dominic Thill
The Ethical Principles Underlying Abortion, Lewis Dominic Thill
Bachelors’ Theses
At the present day one quite often hears a discussion of birth-control. And it is interesting to note how varied and shallow are the ethical opinions put forth by those in favor of it. The advocates of abortion seem to have but the vaguest notion of the Natural Law, forgetting that morality is not made in its fundamental principles by personal whim or religious creed, but by the requirements of Divine Order, which must forever prevail. Abortion is practiced in some degree by the laity without the intervention of a physician. Very often, however, it is prescribed by medical men …
Craniotomy And Abortion Are Moral And Social Evils, Alvin Ralph Kutschera
Craniotomy And Abortion Are Moral And Social Evils, Alvin Ralph Kutschera
Bachelors’ Theses
An artificial division of arguments has "been essayed in this thesis for two external reasons: physicians and physicians. The physician performing craniotomy adopts the operation as the last resort in a "bad case, when death is imminent whereas the abortionist operates for many and sundry reasons, some good and many bad, base, and criminal. The two types of operators being entirely different, the operations they perform have been kept apart, tho craniotomy and direct abortion are direct attacks upon the life of the fetus, and an argument against one is a lance in the side of the other.
