RISD press was a student newspaper published weekly in the early 1970s, a self-described attempt at consolidating all the information outlets of the school, including the previous student newspapers, Montage. Beginning in September 1973, RISD press included the Brown Daily Herald’s weekly issue of Fresh Fruit as an insert. The issue of September 28, 1973 had an article about the dangers in some of the dorms and the ROTC program for men at Providence College. A recipe, comics, a poem and events for RISD students were also in this issue.

This student-run weekly newspaper was known simply as R.I.S.D., or RISD Paper. The RISD Paper ran through the late 1960s and into the 1970s. The issue of November 12, 1970 included an article about World Game and Conceptual Thinking and an article about Zen painting and calligraphy at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. There were photos from the New Dean String Band at the RISD Farm and comics, poems and letters to the editor. Also included was a small article about RISD student activism.

The Designer was a student newspaper published in 1942. Three issues remain today. The first two issues are written by typewriter on loose sheaves of paper. The issue of May 12-18, 1969 included articles about Apparel Design's annual show Collection 1969, and an article about Man and his Technology, a seminar that was attended by 250 people. There was a brief article about racial troubles at Hope High School in Providence that was from a publication called EXTRA. Comics, ads, letters and art exhibits were also mentioned.
