The aim of comedy as a work of drama is to entertanin and ciritcize by making fun of the human characters and flaws or helpless situation. Comedy also makes fun of people from the county side who imitate the ways the Parisians dress and talk in exaggerated way. The works of the well-known comedy writers like Moli re (1622-1673), Marivaux (1688-1763) and Beaumarchais (1732-1799) deal with universal characters and problems, stereotypical human flaws, for example, stinginess, hypocrisy, arrogance, and snobbism.

Synonymous verbs are often confusing because on the one hand verbal pairs have the same meanings but on the other they cannot replace one another in all contexts. This paper examines the contexts of synonymous verbal pairs in French. It shows that aspects that limit the synonymity of a set of words are verbal meanings, semantic characteristics of accompanying words, verbal valence, syntactyc structure, and the commoness of usage of the words. The observation shows that 1) the contexts of the synonymous pairs cannot replace one another although the meanings of both are the same, and 2) the difference in …

Horror film is a film genre that presents things that are frightening, tense, and horrifying. The idea of horror film is basically to terrorize the audience through various terrifying acts or actors. Horror films in the beginning are closely related to stories rooted in the cultural of Europe, especially English literature. The definition of horror in the beginning was a story that presented uncomfortable feelings to the readers. This definition changed with the development of film. Horror film developed into a genre that came to stand side by side with drama, comedy film, gangster film, and action film.

This paper demonstrates that jinja as the center of shaen functions to remind every worker of the existence of shaen in order to make her feel the power and authority of the sacred being near them, in time and space surrounding them to protect business and maintain security in work. Jinja, owned and founded by the corporation, becomes the symbolic representation of the sacred; worshipped by employees it becomes the site (ba) to conduct corporate ritual (matsuri). Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol is one of Russian writers who played important role in the Golden Age of Russian literature in the XIX century. He created a new writing style called critical realism where reality is represented as bad and negative, with an assumption that people through such representation will attain a new awereness of reality. This paper aims at exploring the idea of concept of critical realism through the examination of the characters in Gogol's works in Dead Souls. The Bunmei Kaika pulicy which was applied by the Meiji regime motivated a kind of feminism understanding upon grups of men and women. The understanding was followed by many individual movements that were aimed at the fighting for equality between men and women in various aspects of life. Tulisan ini bertujuan mengungkap kondisi perempuan Indonesia dalam kelompok etnis dan agama melalui metaanalisis atas pelbagai penelitian yang dituangkan dalam bentuk tesis dan disertasi. Penelitinya sebagian besar perempuan, baik warga negara Indonesia maupun warga negara asing. Kelompok etnis yang diteliti cukup banyak dan terdapat di pelbagai pulau. Dewasa ini banyak media massa cetak diterbitkan oleh dan untuk perempuan. Majalah yang demikian lazim disebut majalah wanita. Sebagian besar mahalah wanita diterbitkan oleh orang INdonesia (majalah wanita Indonesia); sebagian yang lain merupakan majalah asing yang diterbitkan di Indonesia (edisi Indonesia). Dalam tulisan ini dimuat perbandingan isi kedua kelompok majalah wanita tersebut, yang dikaitkan dengan isu tentang perempuan. Dari perbandingan, tampak bahwa isu modernitas, yang terutama diusung majalah wanita asing edisi Indonesia, mempengaruhi tampilan isi majalah wanita Indonesia.

This study reveals that some models of comercial breaks appeared at the Indonesian private television program, e.g. shampoo and soap advertisement, could invite some interpretation and functions. Their appearance could reflect women's surrender facing the action of violence. These article discusses about the metaphor of the women's body and how it becomes a medium that is constructed by two aspects, the power and the beauty. The result shows that the messages of comercial break gave meaningfulness of the pragmatical values, the persuasive or ideological statement and the dialectically comunicative process. It attempts to understand and interpret their complex society by using a combination of photography and writing. Mostly refugees, the three hundred or so Vietnamese share the burden of migrating to a new country with one another. They rely on each other. The community is what inspires them to succeed.

Research in Ireland to date has paid little attention to the fact that all foreign language teaching occurs in the context where the FL (foreign language) is an L3. The present study examines the extent to which students transfer or modify strategies they had previously deployed in learning Irish to their L3/L4. It is proposed that students are deploying the same strategies in their learning of Irish as an L1/L2 and the foreign language (FL) as an L3/L4, thus indicating a similar approach to the learning process.
