Edgar Perez Peña (He, Him, His) is a Queer, Chicanx contemporary figurative painter, who lives and works in the Los Angeles County. A native of Los Angeles, California, his paintings, and assemblages are a strong combination of process, materials, and content that displays his fascination on how physical/psychological space (from where he resides), reflects on the Queer Brown body and its comfort/discomfort in relation to public and private space.

This syllabus outline is for an interdisciplinary, upper-division Honors course to be taught in Spring 2021. The team-taught course will include two Reacting to the Past games: (1) Building the Italian Renaissance: Brunelleschi's Dome & the Florence Cathedral and (2) The Trial of Galileo: Aristotelianism, the "New Cosmology," and the Catholic Church, 1616-1633. The course will culminate with the design, development and enactment of a student-created Reacting game. An detailed list of student learning out is included.

This research project was a mixed method of both a quantitative and qualitative design to examine the perception of 38 gay male’s life satisfaction post coming out. In the past few years, laws affecting the gay community have been at the forefront of policies and debates, given all communities an insight into the specific challenges that are endured. As the gay community starts to openly live their lives as a gay man, there has been a need to accept and understand not only the challenges, but to give acceptance.

Celebrities, Drinks, And Drugs: A Critical Discourse Analysis Of Celebrity Substance Abuse As Portrayed In The New York Times, Brent John Austin

This study is an examination of the ideologies present in celebrity substance abuse news stories in The New York Times online from December 2012 to December 2013. I analyzed news stories by employing a critical discourse analysis to determine the dominant discourses in celebrity substance abuse news articles. Drawing from cultivation and framing theories, celebrity substance abuse stories in The New York Times are presented in a limited, individual fashion with relatively little effort when it comes to recovery.
