This paper focuses on the influence of Don Quixote in modern cinema, television, literature, and magazines. It explores the ground breaking episodic nature of the work which has continued on to television, comic books, and graphic novels today. The project demonstrates timeless tropes and motifs that have been used in Don Quixote, Greek mythology, 20th and 21st century cinema, and television programs. This document takes a specific look at the social commentary of women’s rights and the double standards that are displayed in this work that still exist today. La Libertad De Conciencia En Miguel De Unamuno, Kevin Fagan

“Winning is not convincing” was the response of the Rector of the University of Salamanca, Miguel de Unamuno, when faced with the military arrogance of General Millán-Astray during the Spanish Civil War. Speaking truth to power, these last public words uttered by Unamuno rise up as the capstone of the courageous defense of freedom of conscience by an academic against despotism. Here we analyze his literary and philosophical thought throughout a life of writings consistent with his personal sufferings on behalf of conscience. El siguiente artículo resume la actividad poética de Venezuela en la década de los años 60. Traza la evolución de códigos poéticos a través de dos grupos Sardio y El Techo de la Ballena y analiza a dos poetas de este último grupo, Juan Calzadilla y Caupolicán Ovallles. Se examina en el artículo la importancia de la ciudad como plano poético de los grupos y los poetas.

El Impacto De "Viernes" En La Poesía Venezolana, William Martínez

This essay presents a historical review of the poetic production in Venezuela in the 30's and 40's. It reviews the role that "Viernes," a poetic group, had in developing the modern literary movements in Venezuelan literature. The impact that several members of the group had while in and then later after their departure from the group is examined. Equally, the poetic influences inherited by the group, both national and international, are discussed. Finally, the essay deals with the dissolution of the group and its impact in the literature of Venezuela and Latin America after World War II.

How to engage students to reread Arthur Rimbaud’s 1886 poem “Mouvement” differently? What can they learn about the poem and in the process about themselves as readers of literature through its various versions and English language translations? Might rereading for difference hold pedagogical promise? Este ensayo propone ser una introducción de dos escritores de protesta política de nuestra historia literaria hispana moderna, Domingo F. Sarmiento (1811-88) en la Argentina y Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (1864-1936) en España. La personalidad compleja de Sarmiento como ensayista político, literato y promotor de la educación dentro de la Argentina, su análisis de la realidad latinoamericana poscolonial y su visión crítica de España, le proporcionan una visión interesante a Unamuno, cincuenta años después.
