The Cam Henderson papers consist primarily of papers related to his career as a football and basketball coach at Muskingum, Davis and Elkins and Marshall Colleges. A significant part of the collection relates to his wife Roxie Bell Henderson and includes many personal and family items as well as material related to her career as a public school teacher. Included also is material gathered by Dr. Sam Clagg for his biography of Henderson and afterward. This collection consists of fifteen items that are indentures of bargain and sale for land in Mason County, Virginia (later West Virginia). The items appear to have been collected by the Sterrett family as they were party to many of the deed transactions. Parties of the sales include Alexander E. Spotswood and Betsey Washington Spotswood, William Trotter and Mary Trotter, Walter Newman and Ellen Newman, Bushrod Washington Jr., Henry C./G. Dade and Catherine Dade, Phillip Long and Adam Long, Washington Steritt(?), and William Sterritt (sometimes Sterrett). The land was originally part of the George Washington military tract. This collection consists of scripts for five WPBY programs. Each program is divided into tapes. Program one is composed of three tapes, while programs two through four are composed of two, and program five is composed of three. These tapes are transcripts of televised conversations with Jim Comstock in 1980, where Comstock speaks with the host “Dick” about subjects relevant to West Virginia, including poetry, politics, his lived experiences, and history.

This collection consists of an eclectic mix of materials collected by Childers throughout her professional career. They include a 1904 letter from Principal Corbly regarding an institution not accepting Childress’ teaching certificate, a pamphlet entitled “Flood Views of Huntington, W.Va.” [1913], a 1930 Marshall commencement program, a newspaper clipping about the death of Knute Rockne, official programs for the National Education Association from 1911 and 1936, a 1928 Marshall College Directory, a program for the Huntington Women’s Club’s Freiburg Passion Play, and the envelope the collection was received in.
