In this letter, dated January 25, from North Dakota (ND) Attorney General William Langer to Salvation Army Ensign Marshall, Langer responds to Marshall's Letter of January 23, 1918, regarding the case of ND state senator Oscar Lindstrom. Langer writes that Lindstrom was in Bismarck a few weeks before and they went over the case thoroughly. Langer writes that Lindstrom has secured a divorce and that Langer is satisfied that Lindstrom's wife was the one at fault.

In this letter, dated January 23, 1918, from Salvation Army Ensign Marshall to North Dakota (ND) Attorney General William Langer, Marshall refers to the planned visit of ND state senator Oscar Lindstrom, and writes that he has been expecting Langer to call him to the meeting with Lindstrom since Langer's last letter on December 15, 1917. Marshall speculates that Langer must be busy and have good reason not to call. Marshall also writes that he would like to hear from Langer about the case as soon as convenient.

Local History
A panoramic photograph, taken from the Cleveland Hotel, captures downtown Spartanburg, S.C. in 1918, and in particular, the 3rd Liberty Loan parade, with the 27th Division of the U.S Army marching down Main Street. Numerous downtown landmarks are visible, including the towers of Wofford College, the spire of Central Methodist Church, Cleveland Law Range, the court house of the period, Andrews Building, Belk Hudson Building, the Daniel Morgan Statue and Morgan Square, the intersection of Main and Church Streets, the original City Hall and the Spartanburg Herald Journal Building.

In this letter, dated November 24, 1917, from North Dakota (ND) Attorney General William Langer's secretary W. E. to Kersey Gowin, W. E. refers to a letter Langer received from the James Hough Coal Company in Noonan, ND reporting violations of gambling and liquor laws. W. E, encloses the letter in question and Langer's reply and says she will forward any more letters Langer receives from them, and adds that Langer left the previous night for Fargo and will return Monday.
The letter W. E. mentions enclosing was not found with this letter in Langer's papers.
