The Election Of 1928 In Virginia, Hal James Bonney
Master's Theses
The desire to discover the unknown is a characteristic within us all and, at times, it calls just a little louder than usual. There is no enjoyment in the reading of these pages other than than enjoyment of finding, thinking, and understanding that some of us seek.
Af ter studying the election of 1928, I have not only found items of history and political science, but all of the elements of social life narrowed down to the actions of people during a political campaign. Far beyond the reach of history we find in this story the actions of Americans and …

Cordell Hull And The Good Neighbor Policy, Mackey Wilbur Hill

It is the purpose of this study to trace in part Hull's role as implementer of the Good Neighbor policy particularly in the Western Hemisphere. Hull was an internationalist. His ultimate goal was to lead the way to a better world order that is built upon cooperation and mutual respect. This was the original meaning of the Good Neighbor policy as stated in Mr. Roosevelt's first inaugural address. It was the mood of good will and cooperation that was to characterize America's foreign relations. However, if nations outside of this hemisphere were to take America seriously and follow her example, …

History Of Fort Union, New Mexico, Thomas J. Mclaughlin
History ETDs
Through the acquisition of the Territory of New Mexico, the United States fell heir to a problem different from any that it had encountered in any previous advance of the frontier. The fertile lands of the region soon enabled a settlement to develop near the post which provided protection and a market for the surplus of a growing community. Within a few …
