The study takes a multidisciplinary approach by examining historical and contemporary scientific literature in order to determine the degree of intercultural competition which took place between Aborigines and Europeans for the native food resources which were associated with the Swan-Canning estuarine system, which is located in the south west of Western Australia, at approximately longitude 116" E. and latitude 32" S. The 1697-1827 time frame of the study, covers all the documented pre-colonial European visits to the fishery environs and also incorporates the first decade of the British colonisation process at the Swan River, which can be said to have …

An Exhibition by Susan Danforth, Maine Humanities Council, Portland, Maine 1988.

This exhibition began in 1986, when the University of Southern Maine received an extraordinary collection of rare maps, atlases, and globes donated by Lawrence M.C. and Eleanor Houston Smith. In 1987, in response to a call from the National Endowment for the Humanities for programs relating to the Columbian Quincentenary, the Maine Humanities Council submitted a proposal for the "Land of Norumbega" project.

Some. grew into gigantic systems with names we recognize today; Southern Pacific, Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe, Chesapeake & Ohio. Others faded into oblivion. This collection is composed “Cavalry Drill Regulations, United States Army” in 1911, and pilot’s log book. The log book was owned by Howard E. Emmons and contains approximately twenty pages of materials spanning from July to December of 1918, beginning in the U.S. School of Military Aeronautics at the Ohio State University and including flight activities at Carruthers Field in Fort Worth, Texas. The regulations book was owned by -Delos?- -C.?- Emmons. Also included in the collection is a 1919 letter from the Air Service Flying School certifying that Howard Emmons has 253 hours and 20 minutes of flying time …
