This form "No. 40 Special Requisition" details the requisition of 100 pounds of horse shoes, 100 frost nails, and 2 bushels of stone coal by a Confederate States unit. Turner Ashby signs as commander, a Captain William Miller signs as a Quartermaster. Formerly a U.S. form, altered to read "C.S." in one instance. Dated 3 February 1862, Martinsburg (present-day West Virginia).

Chaplain Charles S. Stewart writes to Foote from New York to encourage his prospect and promise for moral and spiritual good upon the USS Cumberland.

Morgan demures, citing the qualities of the U.S. officer corps and the "peculiar" nature of fighting Native Americans.`

Samuel Webb was Silas Deane's private secretary, then First Liet. of Chester's company in American Revolution. In 1776 he was appointed Washington's private secretary and aide-de-camp. In 1777 he was captured at the Battle of Long Island and wasn't released until 3 years later.
