Texte des cours dispensés par Marguerite Durand à l’Ecole de conférencières qu’elle créa en 1921 à Paris. Cette école était destinée à apprendre aux femmes à prendre la parole en public en défendant leurs idées. On ne sait si cette école perdura. L’idée en fut reprise en 1932 par l’Union française pour le suffrage des femmes et l’avocate féministe Marcelle Kraemer-Bach fonda une école d’oratrices au sein du Musée social.

Texte consacré à la dernière impératrice des Français et à la dernière impératrice des Allemands, épouse de Guillaume II, mortes toutes deux en 1921. Marguerite Durand y réfute les « légendes » qui ont donné d’elles une fausse image. La journaliste était très attachée à la figure de l’impératrice Eugénie, qu’elle considérait comme l’une des premières féministes et pour laquelle elle lança l’initiative d’un musée à Pierrefonds.

Il existe deux versions de ce texte dans le manuscrit original. Seule la première a été reprise pour la transcription. Marguerite Durand y fait une analyse détaillée et commentée de cette pièce féministe dont les personnages -avocate, écrivaine, femme médecin, journaliste – représentent les différentes figures de l’émancipation féminine. La pièce obtint un grand succès en 1913.

Réunion de plusieurs textes consacrés à la question du travail des femmes, qui est l’un des thèmes majeurs de la réflexion et de l’action de Marguerite Durand. Le premier texte, qui date de 1907, année de la fondation par Marguerite Durand de son Office du travail féminin, est consacré au travail des ouvrières de la Compagnie générale d’électricité d’Ivry-sur-Seine, et illustre bien les problématiques chères à la journaliste : remise en cause des lois prétendument protectrices, égalité des salaires, etc.

This ledger meticulously details the prices paid and received for scores of human beings (as slaves; only first names are recorded), as well as the expenses incurred by Smith in undertaking this business venture, such as feeding, clothing, sheltering, and nursing the people he purchased and sold. The details of the book illustrate that Smith took several "trips" between 1844 and 1854 to buy and sell slaves: detailed records of purchases and sales of "Negroes" exist for all of the years between 1844 and 1854. The listing of expenses for the year of 1844 (the most complete account) indicate that …
