I wonder how many here this evening are familiar witht he work or even the name of Adolf Meyer. I would expect that he is know to few. Even in the field of psychiatry, towhichhecontributedso much, he has become little more than a name. Young psychiatrists are likely to learn only enought about Meyer to pass their medical boards. What they do read does not necessarily clarify his importance, for his theories seem either obivous or obscure, and far from electriying. As a Professor of Median and Minor Romance Languages at the University of North Carolina, Professor Maissen occupies a unique position for fostering interest in the Raeto-Romance language of his native Grisons. This center of comparative :ttemtures and linguistics enables him to use Raeto-Romance as a key for the understanding of the whole language group related to it, from Catalan to Rumanian. Despite of its small territory, Raeto-Romance, because of the consciousness with which our compatriots in the Grisons defend this linguistic heritage, plays a crucial role in these studies .

New York was the place where the earliest permanent official contact was established between the two countries when a consulate was opened under Henri Casimer de Rham of Ynerdon in the summer of 1822. Before the advent of Mr. Collier, Everglades had been a sport-fisherman's outpost. There was an inn, the Rod & Gun Club, catering to yacht-borne fishing enthusiasts, and three or four small bungalows harbored families who made their modest living as guides. Theses and Dissertations

This thesis pertains to the efforts of the Mormons in establishing their Church among the Irish and is arranged to give a chronological account of activities there. A brief background of the establishment of Christianity in Ireland and a knowledge of numerous conflicts between Catholics and Protestants helps to understand the complex religious interaction occurring at the time Mormonism was introduced in that country. The difficulties encountered by the first Mormon missionaries in Ireland suggest reasons why the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did not expand as rapidly as it did elsewhere in Britain and other European countries. …

The exhibition of Swiss drawings which travels from Washington, D.C. (October 7 -29, 1967) to New York (Pierpont Morgan Library: November 15, 1967 - January 2, 1968), San Francisco (M.H. de young Memorial Museum: January 14 - February 12, 1968) and Chicago (Art Institute: February 24 - March 26, 1968) 1) poses two problems:

1) Why did drawing and generally graphic expression play such an important role in the work of Swiss artists from Urs Graf to Giacometti?

2) What was the role of Swiss art within the European creative community, in other words, what is its qualitative position?

On October 7, 1967, the exhibition "Swiss Drawings, Masterpieces of Five Centuries" opened at t he National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. It will stay here until October 29, 1967, and will then travel to New York to be shown at the Pierpont Morgan Library from November 15 1967 - January 2 1968. After their showing in New York , the drawings will be exhibited at the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco from January 14 - February 12, 1968, and at the Art Institute in Chicago from February 2i4 - March 26, 1968.
