There has been a dearth of investigation into the distribution of and the alterations among Jewish given names. Whereas Jewish surnames are a popular topic of study, first names receive far less analysis. Because Jewish immigrants to the United States frequently changed their names, this thesis can serve as a guide to genealogists and other scholars seeking to trace the paths of Jewish immigrants from Europe. Data was drawn from about 1500 naturalization records from Brooklyn in order to determine the correspondences between the given names featured on passenger lists and their Americanized counterparts. Because it signified the violent transition from the Plantagenet to Tudor dynasty, the death of King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth’s Field was a monumental event. After five centuries, his skeleton was rediscovered by an archaeological team at a site, formerly the location of the Greyfriars Priory Church. The presentation uses the forensic evidence to examine the extent to which the perceived image of Richard III is the result of Tudor propaganda.

Cemeteries have been called outdoor museums, cultural artifacts, and written and visual records of communities. I am attempting to produce a geographically local biographical or cultural landscape study. In some cases cemeteries are the only identifiable remains of a community. The Plymouth Cemetery records that I have enhanced are just a part of the rich history of the Suldal Norwegian American Community in Juneau County, Wisconsin. It was estimated in 1908 that there were about 1,200 Norwegians from Suldal and about 500 from Upper Telemark in the settlement. Suldal is a rural district in Rogaland County in western Norway. Finding Aids

This collection consists of the transcripts, original cassette tape recordings of public speeches, lectures, and oral history interviews spanning from 1962-2007. Interviews were conducted and recorded by Georgia Southern University’s Department of History and Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections. Those interviewed are mostly locals to Bulloch County and neighboring counties. Interviewees discuss their personal and family lives, historical events they were a part of, and circumstances surrounding their successes. The public speeches and lectures originated from an assortment of sources.

This collection is composed of two pages entitled, “How many ancestors have you?” and contains a list of ancestors (one for each generation and when they were born or died), what rulers in England ruled while each ancestor lived, and how many ancestors you would have each generation for twenty-four generations. The pages were found in William S. Appleton’s “Memorials of the Cranes of Chilton” published in Cambridge in 1868. The pages are undated, and the date is approximated based on the book the pages were found in.

These materials appear to have been collected during Corbly’s European travels, especially in Switzerland and Germany. This collection absorbed accession 0272, the folder labelled “Corbly Family”. This folder contains a 1979 manuscript sent to Marshall President Robert B. Hayes regarding Lawrence J. Corbly’s ancestors. Also included is a manuscript possibly by Agnes Corbly Kiger (niece of Lawrence Corbly) regarding the “Corbly’s as She Knew Them”, Andrew Lynn Corbly and Miranda Moore Corbly.

Elaborately decorated with pen and ink lettering and colored coats of arms and flags, the lineage breaks down by epoch and line such as Saxon, Danish, Saxon Line Restored, and Norman, etc. The inside of the portfolio reads “Mrs. Ed. J. Greenwalt, City”.
