Selected Piano Works By Klaus Pringsheim’S Students At The Tokyo University Of The Arts : Analysis, Interpretation And Performance Techniques, Panjai Chulapan

This research article discusses selected piano works by Thai and Japanese composers who studied with Klaus Pringsheim (1883-1972) at the Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan around 1931-37. Pringsheim established the conventional Romantic musical language among his students. A few students, including Prasidh Silapabanleng and Komei Abe, also furthered the idea of integrating vernacular musical language in their compositions. Silapabanleng incorporated Thai traditional melodies in many compositions. Abe also interlaced a koto playing technique in his Piano Sonatina No.3 in C minor which required specific musical knowledge and interpretation in order to convey the performance perfectly. This study examines the political economic and social contexts of lifestyle of cultural consumption in Gangnam area of Seoul, South Korea. By focusing on consumption in the Gangnam area, in which the glitz of successfully riding the wave of globalization has crystallized, this study discerns major cultural and spatial features of the city’s new global urbanism. We call for psychologists to expand their thinking on fair and just public safety by engaging with the “Abolition Democracy” framework that Du Bois (1935) articulated as the need to dissolve slavery while simultaneously taking affirmative steps to rid its toxic consequences from the body politic. Because the legacies of slavery continue to produce disparities in public safety in the U.S, both harming Black people and the institutions that could keep them safe, psychologists must take seriously questions of history and structure in addition to immediate situations. The aim of this article is to present, with the example of the city of Łódz, the impact of the narrative of a place led by myths and symbols on the perception of the image and brand positioning. Throughout the research procedure, the historical overview of Łódz was outlined in the forefront. Then, the content of 67 selected texts presenting genealogical myths were analyzed. Certain product categories that interest elderly women in Bangkok include healthcare, lifestyle fashion, and culture. Cultural heritage are recognized as an important tool that can promote products and brand image. This thesis argues that patisserie and the French relationship with dessert are a part of national identity. The historical context of patisserie runs parallel to the growth and power of the French colonial empire. Patisserie feels removed from the empire, and yet the two show how gastronomy, luxury, and exploitative power in the form of empire are components of French history and identity. Marx’s theory on commodity fetishism serves as the backbone for this argument. During the early years of the Second World War, a typically unofficial and loose coalition of British newspapers, publishers, propagandists, and booksellers mobilized Britain’s imagined literary past and present as a part of the war effort. They defined the nation through its imagined literary proclivities— its penchant for literary production and consumption, and its “unique” attitude toward literary freedom— and in opposition to the literary tyranny of Nazi Germany. Marshaling the nation’s mythological literary heritage, they enlisted Shakespeare and Milton in the war effort, portraying them as temperate and civilian English heroes. This work demonstrates the employment of Likay, a folk theatre performance, as an educational tool for promoting the awareness of hypertension in elderly Thais. Utilizing interdisciplinary approaches across the academic fields of health science and the performing arts, this project created a Likay production dealing with the topic of hypertension and related medical information. The Smart Band Application is a music application paired with a hardware device designed for the Thai elderly at foster care homes to enhance group participation in musical-based activities. It is small, wireless (or wired) and easily attached to most instruments that produce pitches. For this research a set of eight angklungs (a SE Asia bamboo tube shaker instrument) covering the range from C to high C was selected. This paper argues against the traditional notion of mobility by reinterpreting it through three concepts: Margin of Indeterminacy, Governmobility and Lefebvre’s Production of Space. The author chooses to compare the transportation of Bangkok and Tokyo based on direct experience and the city transportation’s respective notability. The paratransportation and decentralized transportation in Bangkok allows the city to have a wider margin of indeterminacy than Tokyo. Founded in 1296 CE, the walled city of Chiang Mai, Thailand was once the capital of the Lanna kingdom. In the sixteenth century, Chiang Mai’s fortunes waned, and it became a tributary state under the Burmese. This was followed by its incorporation into the Thai nation-state in the twentieth century. One outcome of Chiang Mai’s administrative integration into the Thai nation was the erosion of its distinctive cultural identity. Beginning in the 1980s, key local figures began to collaborate with communities and academic institutions to revitalize Chiang Mai’s intangible cultural heritage, including its craft traditions, rituals, textiles, and dance performances. …

Inner Martyrdom: Deconstructing The Sacrificial Female Subject In Post-Soviet Georgia, Gvantsa Gasviani

This article analyzes the 2017 film, My Happy Family, and how it depicts the archetypical Georgian woman and the sacrifices she is required to make for the family and, by extension, the nation. In doing so, I explore the socio-historical construction of the ideal woman and the ways women resist gendered demands, often through unseen means. Scholars have explored the cultural politics of “postsocialism,” analyzing the “New Woman” archetype in relation to class, sexuality, and labor. This thesis explores how social dancing in the United States formed a noteworthy aspect of political, diplomatic, social, and class exchange for U.S. elites both domestically and overseas; and how the cultural dominance over dance that France enjoyed during this period created an informal cultural diplomatic relationship between the United States and France in the 1780s and the 1790s. I argue that U.S. elites utilized this dance culture as a form of upper-class status legitimation that could serve diplomatic purposes.
