In this letter, Cora writes to Mrs. Tibbets to thank her for the Christmas gifts. She describes the table that they set for a traditional western-style Christmas. They invited a Japanese couple, who were described by Cora to be very fascinated with the Christmas decor. She also tells Mrs. Tibetts about her coming vacation with George to Oshima, as there is a volcano there that they are intending to climb.

A girl in a white dress stands next to a seated man in dark clothes with her left arm around his shoulder. The man wears a hat and his hands rest on his lap. A young woman or girl, also in a white dress, sits next to him with her hands folded in her lap.

Date of photograph is unknown but tintypes flourished in popularity in the 1860s and 1870s and the clothing of the figures suggests a similar time period.

It recounts the trial and execution of a woman named Susanna Cox who killed her child, conceived out of wed-lock. The work copied in the book appears to be based on the Louis Storck translation of the ballad by Johann Philip Gombert.

In this tract, the leaders of the Schmalkald League formally announce their intention not to participate in the Council of Trent, and give reasons why they are unable to do so.
