Collection consists primarily of the diary (1816-1818) of Augustus Kuper, Assistant commissary general of Canada, 1813, telling of his trip to England with his wife to secure a position in the provincial government. "Maple Leaf and Mud" makes no claim to be a formal unit history, instead it is an attempt to describe the lifestyle of the Tenth Battalion in the trenches during World War I. It is based on unpublished letters, correspondence, and interviews. Preservation of this original source material is the primary purpose of "Maple Leaf and Mud."
