The article discusses the author's experience of touring the Creation Museum in Kentucky, which was opened in May 2007. He met the museum's director Ken A. Ham, and asked him various questions about the art exhibits. He inquired about the capacity of Noah's ark to carry all pairs of animals in it, and notes that the museum is scaling back the universe. He also shared that the biggest challenge facing the museum is making people see the difference in using the present method and one's belief.

In Demanding the Cherokee Nation, Andrew Denson takes on two very important tasks. First, he addresses the history of the Cherokee Nation in the years after their forced removal west of the Mississippi River. Second, he examines in great detail the ways the Cherokee leadership defined, protected, and promoted the political autonomy of the Cherokee Nation in relation to the U.S. government in the mid- to late nineteenth century. Of the eleven essays included in The Boundaries between Us, only the final two fail to reference Richard White’s The Middle Ground in their endnotes. This does not come as a surprise, because this collection revolves around the Old Northwest Territory and because White’s interpretive framework has loomed so large over American Indian historiography in the fifteen years since its publication. Yet the strength and popularity of the middle ground as a concept might be viewed as both a blessing and a curse.

This article explores the connections between New Orleans’s late 20th-century tourism representations and the mainstream media coverage and national images of the city immediately following Hurricane Katrina. It pays particular attention to the ways that race and class are employed in both instances to create and perpetuate a distorted sense of place that ignore the historical and contemporary realities of the city’s African American population.

Although Egypt was ruled by foreigners during most of the Late and Greco-Roman periods, native religious traditions remained strong and the period witnessed the production of a wide variety of religious texts written in the Egyptian language. This article presents many of the major religious texts of Egypt's Late and Greco-Roman periods and comments on the trends of continuity and change that they suggest. Yet, as political rights spread, a rising elite gained control over the sources of prosperity by means of the institution that has since come to symbolize capitalist America—the corporation. In this study, Andrew M. Schocket analyzes the establishment, growth, and operations of both commercial and municipal corporations in the nation’s premier city, Philadelphia. In the former colony, free people of African origin were almost entirely barred from admission, whereas in Suriname manumitted Africans and their descendants were included as members, albeit sidelined to the margins, a phenomenon I term "peripheral inclusion."

Originalist analyses of the Framers’ views about governmental search power have devoted insufficient attention to the civil search statutes they promulgated. What attention has been paid, primarily as part of what I term the “conventional account,” has it that the Framers were divided about how accessible search remedies should be. This article explains why this conventional account is mostly wrong, and explores the lessons to be learned from the statutory choices the Framers made with regard to search and seizure law.
