The Suffolk Campaign A Case Study, Brian S. Wills
The Suffolk Campaign A Case Study, Brian S. Wills
Honors Theses
"the Suffolk Campaign: A Case Study," covers the Civil War that began on April 11, 1863 and ended on May 3, 1863 and centered around the small Tidewater Virginia town of Suffolk. Suffolk's strategic prominence was derived from its access to the James River, through tributary (the Nansemond), and two major railroads which ran through the town--the Petersburg and Norfolk, and the Roanoke and Seaboard. Buildings And Grounds Of Yale University, Richard C. Carroll Ed.
Publications on Yale History
This third edition has been expanded to include the grounds as well as the buildings of Yale University. The date of publication follows closely the retirement of President Brewster and therefore includes the new buildings and the renovations of older structures completed during his term of office. The book also lists all Yale buildings now standing and used for university purposes and, where information is available, it records buildings no longer standing. Thus its purpose is mainly historical, to catalogue such basic facts as the date and style of construction, location, name of the architect, and the uses which the …

Cultural Barbarism And The Romantic Ideal An Analysis Of Three Cases Of Hero-Worship In 19th Century Germany, Gregory R. Chemnitz
Cultural Barbarism And The Romantic Ideal An Analysis Of Three Cases Of Hero-Worship In 19th Century Germany, Gregory R. Chemnitz
Honors Theses
The 19th century produced numerous intellectual currents which were expressions of an incompatibility with the modern age. In reaction to the emergence of a now, urban, petty bourgeois world the 19th century intellectual of ten assumed the role of a prophet, warning of the decadent course of history while portraying an ideal form of existence which could eventually be achieved. One manifestation of this expression of dissent was Romanticism, and especially German Romanticism. In Germany there arose a passionate outcry for the internal purification of man and the return to an earlier condition. Associated with this was the worship of …

"Heinrich Tonnies", Egon P. Bodtker
The Bridge
Heinrich Tonnies has been known to Danish archivists and photo-historians primarily for his topographical views of Aalborg. His pictures made Aalborg the second most photographed city in Denmark in the 19th century. Alexander Alland has ensured Tonnies a place among recorders of social history by the exhibit in Aalborg he arranged in 1975. For this redirection of our attention we in D.A.H.S. and others are indeed thankful.
The Graylands Story, Cam Rielly
The Graylands Story, Cam Rielly
Research outputs pre 2011
Gray lands is unique -there is no doubt about that.
Many past Graylanders would suggest that its uniqueness came from its buildings, but there were other teacher-education institutions in Australia which were compelled to operate in unsatisfactory conditions. Indeed, the physical surroundings for students and staff at Claremont had been, over the years since the war, little better than those at Graylands. Besides, toward the end of its life, through the efforts of the 4,000 students who passed through its corrugated-iron huts, the hundreds of lecturers, administrators and clerical officers who remained dedicated despite the totally inadequate accommodation, and the …
