Ferraro argues that the traditional account of the Catiline Conspiracy of 63 B.C.E., largely shaped by Cicero, is biased and politically motivated. It suggests that Cicero exaggerated or misrepresented the threat posed by Catiline to justify consolidating power and suppressing reform efforts, highlighting the need to critically evaluate partisan primary sources when interpreting this event.

The goal of this capstone was to become familiar with the different voices that public history professionals take on in order to successfully preserve their collections and advocate for community histories. To gain experience with the internally focused informative voice, an orientation manual was written and digitized for the Sinclair College Archives, a local Dayton archive in which student workers, interns, and future archives professionals are frequently trained on the basics of archival processing and arranging materials for public use. Good greetings, or Gut Heil!, was a common greeting made by German-Americans in Dayton. These German-Americans and the lives of millions of Americans on April the sixth, 1917 were forever altered because of the United States’ decision to join the war effort. As the United States entered the First World War, domestically the population felt emboldened to aid in the war effort in every way possible. The First World War brought unprecedented hysteria towards German-Americans for fear of treason and espionage upon the war effort. In this ambitious essay, Clayton Cardinal cogently argues that ambition helps explain both the rise and fall of a man who gave his name to an entire age: Napoleon. Having himself at an early age derided ambition, Napoleon soon came to self-consciously embody it, comparing himself favorably to, as Cardinal shows, “an Olympic athlete,” “a shooting star,” and “the envoy of the Grand Nation,” France. Napoleon’s desire to create what he called an “empire of the world,” however, ultimately to led to his ruin. I picked the donated material from the American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter Education Program for two reasons. One: I attended that program 3 years ago where I, not only satisfied my foreign language requirement but played with the idea of getting a career interpreting. Two: I wanted to process a batch of material straight from the donor rather than all the under processed stuff I've been dealing with during my internship. Through the course of this capstone, I was fortunate to run into my old teachers I had during my stay in the Interpreter program.

From 1938 until the end of World War II, the Curtiss P-40 fighter participated in the European, North Africa, and Pacific theaters of war. An aircraft’s success depends primarily upon the pilot’s expertise. Without skilled pilots, technology alone cannot win a war. Technological innovation still plays a crucial role in the success of a nation’s air force. Relative to technological developments, how impactful is a pilot’s skill on a fighter plane’s performance?
