The 1943 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Shelby First Baptist Church and Double Springs Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by D. F. Putnam. Gardner-Webb College provided the Association with their 1942 operating budget. The report on orphanages stated that 687 children were placed in two Baptist orphanages, the largest annual number to date. They stressed the improtance of continued support for Baptist orphanages. The Foreign Mission Board reports that mission work in Europe and the Far East have ceased due to the war, but opportunities are open in Africa and …
