An article about how photographic and electronically created pictures mediate and determine social reality, which is one of the most complicated concerns of our time. Definitions of media, the individual's position and responsibilities in society, and the nature of the photographic picture are all on the table. Gary Garrels, Jim Lewis, Christopher Phillips, Sandra S. Phillips, Abigail Solomon-Godeau, Robert R.
