The research I have conducted for my French Major Senior Thesis is a culmination of my passion for and studies of both French language and culture and the history and practice of Visual Arts. I have examined, across the history of art, the representation of women, and concluded that until the 20^th century, these representations have been tools employed by the makers of history and those at the top of the patriarchal system, used to control women’s images and thus women themselves. Through a generous donation to Morehead State University, research has been conducted on thousands of slides containing images of artwork and artifacts of historical significance. These images span from Egyptian hieroglyphs to the inaugural dress of every first lady of the United States. The slides are in the process of being recorded and catalogued for future use by students in hopes of furthering academic comprehension and awareness of the influence of fashion and costume history through the ages. Food Systems Master's Project Reports

This project is based on the Vermont Folklife Center’s research documenting grassroots food and agriculture in Vermont. The Library of Congress Archie Green Fellowship generously funded this research. Over the course of approximately 18 months, the research team traveled across Vermont to conduct 22 qualitative interviews with a cross-section of Vermont’s food system stakeholders. Additionally, the team dedicated 6 site visits to capturing photographic, audio, and video content from a variety of food producers. The ultimate goal of this research is to create a traveling exhibit featuring the story of Vermont’s modern, changing food system.

This document contains reflections on motivations behind selected works leading up to and including my thesis exhibition so much apparent nothing. Through journal excerpts and analysis of my own psychology, I attempt to put into words my thoughts concurrent to my making, indirect as they may be. The following text shares my personal conflicts and ideologies surrounding art-making, the permanence of objects, and the acceptance of an identity in flux.
