Trade Secrets is a collection of fourteen short stories that explores characters falling in and out of relationships and coping in unusual and even comedic ways. These characters are often obsessive and do not trust one another. They think life is funny, and discover that love is funny, and yeah, sex can be funny too. They don’t feel the right things when they’re supposed to. They find love, and lose love. They find hope, and lose hope. They escape sometimes, but more often are unable to go anywhere. Old Crow and Men is a novel about a young woman's coming of age. The story takes place in the hometown of the protagonist, and depicts a number of relationships she has with men over a period of eight years. Some of these relationships are with family members, some are friendships, and others are romantic. The narrative moves along based on the relationships the protagonist encounters and the effects they have on her.

In The Slats Of This Small Town: A Collection Of Poetry, Maegon L. Mayes

The majority of these poems were inspired by actual small-town figures and instances, so the pairing down of narrative substance and the varying rhythm of common language are applied throughout. For this reason, most of the poems are written in free verse. One exception is a single poem that is near Tanka; that poem and a few other concept poems included are a bit more universal in content and are without the same colorations of fixed time and place, drifters that came to the mindscape of this collection.

The following thesis for the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing consists of two parts. The first part contains five excerpts from a short story cycle, tentatively entitled Breakfast Shots. The second part includes experimentation with the short story form, including the noir-influenced Bloqueo and two minimalist stories derived from this piece. Several stories included in this thesis have been published in journals such as Boulevard, Fiction International, and Dark Sky. The rest are currently under consideration for various journals and anthologies.

This thesis consists of fourteen stories and a critical introduction. Each story is set in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas and features Mexican American characters. The critical introduction discusses the history of the Rio Grande Valley and traces my development as a writer. It also shows the influences Mexican American writers such as Américo Paredes have had on my work.

The Alternate is a feature-length action screenplay that serves as the culmination of Clint Green’s academic journey through Lindenwood University’s MFA in Writing program. The story centers around Jacquelin "Jax" Pierce, a complex female assassin with a traumatic past and a fractured moral compass. When Jax is hired to eliminate Shiri Wan—a pregnant medical professional with unknown ties to a larger political conspiracy—she is forced to confront her own haunted past and reevaluate her future.
