Cry Wolf is a confessional poetry collection told in three sections about at-work stalking. This collection also alludes to the Brothers Grimm fairytale, The Little Red Riding Hood. The sections of Cry Wolf include “The Wolf,” which introduces the speaker’s discovery of work-related stalking. The second section, entitled “The Fur,” is where the speaker empowers themselves to file a Title IX report about this dilemma, and Red cloaks herself in the wolf’s skin. This is an analysis of Steven Patrick Fernandez’s transcreation of poetry through the Integrated Performing Arts Guild’s SugaTula. I use autotheory as I retell, examine, and reflect on my experiences on SugaTula and on Fernandez’s transcreation of poetry. From my autotheoretical analysis, I then situate Fernandez’s and IPAG’s SugaTula in the field of translation studies. The study reveals that Fernandez’s transcreation of poetry through SugaTula is a concept which is not only significant for theater practitioners but also for reading and literature teachers. Focusing on the first exhibition of Islamic art in Lebanon, organized by the Nicolas Sursock Museum in 1974, this article shows how the construction and the operationalization of the concept of Islamic art overlapped with postcolonial endeavors to foster national identity. By closely examining the making of the art exhibition and tracing material histories intersecting in Beirut, it elicits constructions of the national, the secular, and the spiritual via the notion of art. It contributes to the growing scholarship on the historiography of Islamic art, regional museums, and nation-building in the second half of the 20th century.

This paper draws on ethnographic fieldwork to examine the affective and agentive power of graffiti in Beirut after the August 4 Beirut explosion, specifically the graffiti on the port wall: “My government did this.” The paper investigates the whitewashing of the port wall, the erasure of this phrase, and the subsequent policing that took place.
It studies how graffiti holds an emotional or affective grip on civilians and is intrinsically tied to the practice of agency. In short, the paper discusses how graffiti opens a space for the transgression of dominant or hegemonic systems of power.

I originally set out to write a ‘poetical translation’ of Ecclesiastes. “Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.” I wanted to capture the unwavering self-possession of one in the grip of a thoroughly abstract disgust with life. A disgust without bitterness or resentment, measured and controlled, a studied disgust, so languorous as to verge almost on supreme pleasure, pleasure unhaunted by thought. Legal issues and lessons abound in superhero narratives. Caped heroes often act above and outside the law but deliver on law’s promises of justice and mercy in ways that ordinary legal actors cannot. Legal ethics, criminal law, and procedure are all on display. Superheroes supply a framework for examination of multiple legal issues and lessons, including what it means to be ethical (within the context of the rules of professional conduct and also in a broader sense) and how a legal life can be a virtuous one.
