Knots Undone is a character-driven short story that highlights different types of one-sided relationships and how they have a negative impact on people closest to us. Through examples of platonic, romantic, familial, and intrapersonal relationships, the story will emphasize how some bonds can become emotionally and mentally draining when people are under a great deal of stress The goal of the story is to reveal why these types of relationships occur, and it is meant to lead the reader recognize these behaviors to be harmful for the characters and to possibly make connections to these kinds of relationships in their …

EVERYTHING WE NAME IS PRECIOUS is a collage of poetry exploring the challenges of reshaping a disembodied being into a new whole after trauma. The collection critiques a phallocentric America entrenched in toxic masculinity and violent gun culture, calling for individual and cultural healing. Drawing inspiration from Hélène Cixous, Maggie Nelson and the Book of Genesis, the manuscript’s speakers seek agency and restoration by exploring what it means to write through the body and reimagine the feminine.

In November 1926, a group of Black artists, writers, and activists created the first and only edition of Fire!!, edited by novelist Wallace Thurman. Fire!! was created by a younger generation of New Negroes and “devoted to the younger Negro artists” who dissented from the mainstream ideas of the New Negro Movement and used the magazine to spread their own views on the 1915-1945 New Negro Renaissance. My proposal for my senior honors project is to produce a completed work of fiction. Specifically, this will be a short story consisting of around twenty double spaced pages, minimum six thousand words, of original writing accompanied by an eight to ten page critical essay exploring my literary influences as well as a five to seven page self analysis of my individual writing process. It is my intention to produce a work within the gothic-thriller genre, deriving inspiration from authors such as Joyce Carol Oates and Flannery O’Connor.

The writing and images in Sweet Fruit are an exploration of my creative works. In the first section, memory, making, and poetics come together to help the reader feel the nuances of my experience. In the exhibition works section, images allow an extended look at the work. Accompanying text describes the relevance of my childhood and my parent's Caribbean upbringing to my creative practice.

The narrative form is emerging with great research interest, the form having no previously established traditions. This research paper attempts to define the nature of multimodal digital narratives and their implementation into modern society. Specifically, the paper addresses the digital rhetoric appropriated by multimodal digital narratives and how it translates into modifying perceptions of society. 'A Father at 1.5 Metres: Poems of Pandemic and Fatherhood' is a 36 poem collection with a connecting theme of uncertainty informed by John Keats‟ concept of negative capability. Negative capability, a term introduced by Keats in 1817, suggests that a writer is benefitted by a refusal of the formation of concrete ideas, that being in uncertainty without needlessly chasing after truth allows for a better understanding of the world, and of more perspectives in their writing. The negatively capable writer is more open to possibilities and of exploring new ideas; this allows them to pursue what Keats calls “beauty”, …
