Throughout the ages, the crime/mystery genre has stayed marginally the same with a variety of tropes making their debut as time went on. Many of these tropes were introduced by notable writers, such as, Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Wilkie Collins, Patricia Highsmith, Dorothy L. Sayers, and others. Due to this, the researcher decided to pinpoint the most common or overexposed tropes within this genre and reinvent them within the narrative that the researcher has created. Beholding a comic is ideally, a pleasure. The work informs, entertains and stimulates the mind in some way. There is no gainsaying which works will affect which beholders howsoever it does, yet the expectation of pleasure from a work of comics makes beholders seek it. Making the comic is also a pleasure, even if the process can be long-winded, winding and difficult. The maker wants to give others the same pleasure they drew from beholding comics, but in their way, making their vision of Batman, Lieutenant Blueberry or, their own story worlds. Sampling The Hors D’Oeuvres: Exploratory Poetics In Archives And Special Collections, Patrick Williams

This lesson plan engages students with primary materials as ingredients for creative work, with attention to the ways researchers read and notice in archives and special collections. This hands-on creative activity helps students to identify and analyze many facets of materials in a special collections setting, and it allows students to explore those materials together. Students create found poems based on a prompt distributed by the librarian-instructor and then engage in reflective sharing of the poems. The prompt draws students toward the textual, paratextual, and metadata elements of materials, and the sharing of poems among students highlights the variety of …
