This is a creative thesis on a personal experiences working for the European peace movement. It reflects the parallel efforts of working for personal and shared peace in order to contribute to both,
After several years as a reporter, I became disenchanted with my life choices and became an intern with the Catholic peace organization Pax Christi International in Belgium. It was a transition that proved both challenging and rewarding.
While I was discovering the physical peace work through Pax Christi I was also embarking on an inner journey to find personal peace with my decisions and myself.

Fay Weldon's Late Bloomers And Comedy And A Lawyer, A Vet, And A Couple Of Dogs, One Of Them Dead, Susan Rote Siferd

Creative dissertation begins with a critical study of comedy as Weldon employs it in her novels of marriage, infidelity, and divorce. Traditionally, comedy ends in marriage; Weldon's dark comedies end in self-understanding as a necessary prerequisite to growth and possible future relationship. However, Weldon does not celebrate divorce. She recognizes the impact on women's lives of historic period, world events, and their own female nature. An avowed feminist, Weldon yet refuses to blame men for women's problems, but insists that while women struggle against sexism, they often conform to it. "How Should One Love?": Alternative Love Plots And Their Ethical Implications In The Victorian Novel, Jennifer J. Carpentier

In reading Victorian fiction through an ethical lens, I am attentive to questions of what constitutes the good, loving, w ell-lived life. It is my contention that Victorian writers turned to fiction - specifically, the rapidly emerging novel form - to explore the ethical implications of being in love, and the problem s occasioned by erotic love. The writers I examine modify the basic Aristotelian search for a specification of the good life for human beings: they used novels as testing grounds for the ethical question, "How should one love?"

This collection of poems explores boundaries and migrations, both in the natural world and in human relationships. These poems also consider the role a 'sense of place' plays in poetry, and the ways in which it informs consciousness.
The collection is divided into three sections: Migrations, Boundary Waters, and Flight Pattern. Part one, Migrations, examines developmental stages in the formation of self and in the broader circle of human history. Any abstract discussion of poetry must enlist a terminology wholly inadequate to its purpose, which is purportedly to clarify but which often serves to obfuscate or disempower the original language. The terms enlisted here for such purpose are "self" and "other." This collection of poems explores the distances and affinities between the self and others or other-ness. Exploration initiates movement. Because the self cannot arrive at the other, the poems resist finality, but seek to attain an economy of motion and direction that creates tension with a poem's necessity to come to a temporal conclusion. The novel opens with three people in a stolen 300ZX going dangerously fast. There's Kevin Parish, our first person protagonist, through who's eyes we come to learn of the events leading up to the three's desperate situation. There's Hector Malice, the trailer-trash life-long friend and Kevin's rival for the love of Kevin's life, Ginger Lane. Then, there's Ginger, the former Ms. Lewis County turned drug abusing waitress and worse. Revealed are the secrets of the car business and other marginally legal short cons.

Humor and laughter are essential to the happiness of humankind. Too often we are bogged down in the mire of despair and misery, unable to see the humor in our own folly.
This thesis follows several groups of wacky characters on a cross country adventure. The story begins with the death and subsequent reincarnation of the hermetic genius, Archibald Constable. The recently departed recluse bequeaths his estate to Loretta Pontelli, a loudmouth Italian woman, who feels morally obligated to find Archibald's next of kin.
