If considered thematically, this collection of love poems explores loss and the desired subject using metaphors and images of the body and the objects with which we define ourselves. These poems also explore the body and these objects so as to suggest ideas beyond the particular.

The collection is divided into three sections: Ultrasound, Ouija Flood, and Dream of Surgery. Part one, Ultrasound, investigates self-image formation by using the body as idea and metaphor for physical, social, and psychological confinement.
